La Cala de Mijas does not have a huge hotel scene - it is a small town. What it has is a proper range: a luxury golf resort with spa, a handful of beachside boutiques, a large all-inclusive for those who want everything sorted, and enough self-catering apartments that families and long-stay visitors are well served. The town is small enough that wherever you stay, the beach is within 15 minutes' walk.

La Cala Resort Hotel
The flagship property is a 107-room, 4-star resort set in the hills about 10 minutes inland, right alongside the golf courses. Three championship courses sit on the doorstep. There is a spa, outdoor pools and two restaurants on site.
Rates run from around 120 euros per night in low season, rising to 250 euros at peak. The obvious choice for serious golfers and anyone who wants a self-contained resort with space and quiet. Beachfront and Boutique Options
El Oceano Beach Hotel is the standout 4-star beachfront option, sitting right on Playa El Bombo and scoring 8.8 out of 10 on Booking.com. One of the few places in La Cala where you are on the sand rather than a short walk from it. Good for couples and guests who want the beach as their back garden.
The Orange House Boutique Hotel is a smaller, well-reviewed property in the village itself, rated 4.7 stars across 108 reviews. The best independent hotel in the main town for a couple who want character over size. Breakfast is included and the rooms are well finished.
Las Mimosas Beach Club offers accommodation alongside its beach club facilities - upscale, summer-focused and good if you want sun loungers and cocktails sorted from the moment you arrive. Los Amigos Beach Club is the more affordable equivalent, with beds from around 60 euros per night in shoulder season.
Mid-range and Budget Stays
Hotel Carmen is a reliable 4.4-star option with 286 reviews and a beach-adjacent location in the village. Solid mid-range choice - consistent quality, central enough to walk everywhere, no surprises.
Gran Hotel Costa del Sol carries only 3.8 stars but sits on 3,666 reviews, which tells you something about volume and expectations. It is a large all-inclusive resort, and the right fit for families who want everything in one place and are not expecting boutique quality. Rates run from about 80 to 140 euros per night depending on season.
Torrenueva Park Apartments is the best self-catering pick, rated 4.1 stars across 203 reviews. Good for longer stays or families who prefer cooking some meals themselves. The apartments are well maintained and close to the beach.

Which Area to Base Yourself
The main village is the most convenient base - beach, restaurants and bars are all walkable. The El Chaparral end, near Playa El Bombo, is quieter and better for families or anyone wanting less noise in the evenings. La Cala Resort sits 10 minutes up the hill - brilliant if you are there for golf, less convenient if you want to walk to dinner every night.
Best Time to Book
August is expensive and fills fast - book 2 to 3 months ahead if you want decent availability at a reasonable price. May to June and September to October offer the best mix of availability, price and weather. Low season from November to March sees prices drop 30 to 40 per cent and the resort hotels are nearly empty.
If you are flexible on dates, late September is a strong pick: the sea is still warm, the crowds have gone and rates at La Cala Resort in particular can drop sharply. Easter week is busy - treat it like August for booking purposes.
